Super Street Fighter II HD Remix

Opinions anyone?

I am happy and sad all at the same time. The game looks beautiful, with the backgrounds probably the best looking enhancement in the game. The character redraws and rebalanced modes are, as a rule, improvments but a few things are awry… Neck-less Akuma and Triple Tiger Knee juggle oopsies come to mind.

Overall, though, the game is as good as it has ever been. Not being the most fond player of the SFII-versions it seems that most of the game mechanics and tactics remain which should go a long way to pleasing the hard-core fans of the series.

HD Remix will certainly be a tournament game at DEVASTATION 2009 and, with the amount of players I see on Xbox Live, it is sure to be a hit.

Sooooo Capcom…. how’s about some Alpha lovin’?

Street Fighter IV in Production

That is right, FINALLY, Street Fighter IV! Oh how the world has been waiting for this… We have all been waiting, knowing that this would probably be the time for them to release the title. With all the build up and exposure of Street Fighter-related titles as of late (Alpha Anthology, Super Puzzle Fighter HD Remix, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix) it could only culminate into the announcement of SFIV.

Little else is known other than the game is “in production” with a release time-frame of 2008 (I am not holding my breath…). 2D? 3D? Characters? EVERYthing is uncertain at this point. The Capcom and Shoryuken forums are buzzing with speculation, opinon, and fanaticism about how this new game should look. Personally, I could take any flavor and character mix (save for a friggin Guard button…ha), the new Capcom-fighter blood will be most welcome. That said… with the announcement release trailer in 3D and the push of all things High-Def, my money is on a 3D engine… as much as it pains me to say… BUT if it comes out looking like Resident Evil 5 and plays better than Street Fighter III: Third Strike I am in.

Here is a link to the Street Fighter World site which has the announcement trailer and links to Capcom forums.
