Opinions anyone?

I am happy and sad all at the same time. The game looks beautiful, with the backgrounds probably the best looking enhancement in the game. The character redraws and rebalanced modes are, as a rule, improvments but a few things are awry… Neck-less Akuma and Triple Tiger Knee juggle oopsies come to mind.

Overall, though, the game is as good as it has ever been. Not being the most fond player of the SFII-versions it seems that most of the game mechanics and tactics remain which should go a long way to pleasing the hard-core fans of the series.

HD Remix will certainly be a tournament game at DEVASTATION 2009 and, with the amount of players I see on Xbox Live, it is sure to be a hit.

Sooooo Capcom…. how’s about some Alpha lovin’?

As expected GOW2 is great… A group of us have been playing with it and it really does look like an improvement and not just an addition (can you say dual-wield Halo 2?). While not numerous, the maps are as beautiful as one would expect and offer more variety than just prettied-up image overlays of old levels. I am excited about the various gameplay modes but admit that I have ventured little further thus far than story, Execution, and Horde (which is glorious). If I have any complaint it is with the lobby/loading process. I miss the old mode where we would enter into a string of maps and play the entire cycle… The cumbersome play a map, go back to the lobby, choose a mode/map, and have a team reset gets annoying fast. By the by… just because we have a cool chainsaw assault rifle does not mean that we need it to be THE most overpowered attack in the game… That thing is wickedly powerful and can walk through most attacks and cleave a player in two (melees and shotgun blasts are usually shrugged off). All in all, my hats off to the Epic team for another great game.
