The date is set for the next (fourth) round in the 2009 Pinball Passion/Castles N’ Coasters Pinball Tournament series, dubbed The Phoenix…  For those of you who do not realize, Castles N’ Coasters has one of the largest collections of pinball machines in the country and we are happy to support another event at CnC. Additionally, all rankings are submitted to and kept in the World Pinball Player Rankings which you can find at: http://www.pinballrankings.com/

Information:
Friday, December 4th, 2009
Registration: 5:30 PM
Tournament Start: 6:00 PM
Cost: $10.00 to enter
Prizes: 40% of the pot for 1st, 25% of the pot for 2nd, 10% of the pot for 3rd, and 4th place gets 20 arcade game credits
Castles N’ Coasters is located at 9445 Metro Parkway East Phoenix, Arizona 85051

Rules:
The tournament manager will select 6-8 machines for the tournament
Pinball machines will be placed in tournament mode with 3 balls total, no “extra” balls
Each player will have one chance/play on the machine, scores will be recorded and ranked
Points will be awarded by place/rank on score, starting from 50 and working down in 2 point increments
(1st = 50 points, 2nd = 48 points, 3rd = 46 points, etc.)
The overall tournament winner/places will be determined by combining the points from all games played at the tournament, the highest scores will be ranked from 1st to last
Stuck balls will be reset in the shooter lane
In the event of a machine failure, all games played on the machine will be voided and re-played on a back-up/pre-selected machine

Once the event is over we will post up the full season’s standings/results.

Thanks again to everyone that came out for the launch event. The event had a great turnout including players that came to just hang out and get some casual gaming in on the new titles before they were released. A big thanks to Best Buy, Ahwatukee (Store 177) for hosting the festivities.

The Temple Arcade is presenting another free Midnight Launch Event for the console releases of Tekken 6 and DJ Hero.

We will be hosting free tournaments, training, and challenges on both titles, including a Beat-the-Pro challenge, for prizes such as copies of the games for the system of your choice as well as gift cards and more. Here are all the details you need to be a part of the event, feel free to contact us if you would like additional information:

Monday, October 26th, 2009
6:00 PM – Midnight
Best Buy – Ahwatukee (Store 177)
5051 East Ray Road Phoenix, Arizona 85044 (Crossroads are the I-10 freeway and Ray Road exit)

Tournament rules:
Tekken 6 will be played as a double elimination brackets on Sony Playstation 3s set at 3/5 rounds, default damage/time with winners needing to take 2/3 matches
You are welcome to bring your own arcade sticks and controllers to play on, this is a BYOC event (Bring Your Own Controller)

DJ Hero will be played on Xbox 360 and/or PS3 systems and contollers will be provided

Challenge rules:
The challenge rules will vary based on participants but look for score and time-based challenges along with special Beat-the-Pro rules posted/announced at the event

There will be set-ups/systems available for free-play/casual, friendly matches the entire event so you can just come to hang out and play if you do not want to compete.

Remember, admission is free! Attendees are welcome to take part for all or some of the event, you can even just show up at midnight to pick up a copy of your game and go home.

The best players in the State will be at the event so take advantage of this opportunity to be introduced to some new games or test your skills against some professional players.

This Halloween Castles N’ Coasters is hosting a Guitar Hero Arcade tournament and the team from The Temple Arcade will be on-hand to run the event.

The tournament will be run on the Guitar Hero Arcade machine located in the center of the arcade. Registration will start at 10:00 AM and the tournament is scheduled to start right at 12:00 PM so show up early. The rules for this one are a little different than the norm as it will be held as a single-elimination event on head-to-head/battle mode.
